Whey Protein Powder

Whey protein is a mixture of globular proteins isolated from whey, the liquid material created as a by-product of cheese production. Whey protein is commonly marketed as a dietary supplement, and various health claims have been attributed to it in the alternative medicine community. The following products are available in different flavors.

  • WPC 34% (Whey Protein Concentrate)
Whey protein concentrate is the cheapest and most common form of whey protein, a byproduct of cheese production. Whey protein concentrate is a common bodybuilding supplement used to increase dietary protein intake, often with the goal of maximizing muscle hypertrophy.
  • WPC 80% (Whey Protein Concentrate)
Whey concentrate and isolates go through a process to remove most of the carbs, fat and lactose from “regular unprocessed whey” from whole milk. This process is called “ion exchange” or “filtering.” Both result in an almost pure protein. A “concentrate” is 80% protein.
  • Whey Protein Isolate
A whey protein isolate (often whey isolate) is a dietary supplement and food ingredient created by separating components from milk. Whey is a by-product of the cheese-making process.
